F Blues Take 1
Wow I haven’t done this for ages!
What’s going on - Take 1
Well here we go again. I wonder how long I’ll keep this up for.
Marvin Gaye - What’s Going on
It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. Hope you enjoy this :)
New Youtube Channel.
Quiet Now - Denny Zeitlin (In the style of Bill Evans)
Sorry for not posting in over a week. i’ve had a new project in the works. my corporate entertainment band called Newness Music. If you can take a second to go to the page and like it, that would help me out a lot actually. :)
Waltz for Debby - Take 2
This was taken directly after take 1. I tried developing the themes at different points of the solo. The language is starting to get into my playing and also the thought process of developing a solo. The last phrases are really nice and finish the solo of well.
Waltz for Debby (new recording) - Take 1
Piano Solo. It’s been a while since I’ve made one of these
Next Lifetime - Erykah Badu
If anyone knows where I can hear some great Rhodes keyboard solos in the style of Neo-Soul, please let me know. This is an attempt at it but I don’t know really how to solo in the style.
Freddie the Freeloader - Take 18 (Piano & Bass)
Haven’t practiced this really. Just wanted to see how I’d go over it. There’s a few interesting solo bits in there that I didn’t think I’d ever play.
Take 6 - (Wynton Kelly Piano Solo)
Take 3 - Wynton Kelly Solo 32 Bars
Take 2 - Wynton Kelly Solo 20 Bars
Thoughts?
I love you - Take 3 (Comping)
Getting a little bit better at it. I find the only appropriate thing to do is play sparsely and try to find places where John isn’t playing. That’s hard to find on this track since he recorded it just for himself, bass and drums.
At least I can now write something like this. It’s nice to dream.
John Coltrane - Tenor Saxophone
Daren Sirbough - Piano
Earl May - Bass
Art Taylor - Drums
I love you - Take 2 (Comping)
I still don’t know the melody very well and learning to phrase my comping in with John’s sax playing is hard.
I love you - Take 1 (comping)
The original Track has John Coltrane Playing with Drums and Bass but without keys. I decided I’d try and put a comping pattern underneath. I feel like I need to get better at comping also so I’ll be doing a few more of these.
